Diamond Jubilee Celebrations Sunday 3rd June
Invocation 2012 – 3rd National Discernment Festival for Young People This festival is aimed at people aged between 16-35 who are searching for the knowledge and tools to develop their own personal formation and understanding of God’s will for their lives – particularly for those who are asking if they are called to the priesthood or religious life. This year the festival will take place at St Mary’s College, Oscott in Birmingham on Friday 6th July – Sun 8th July. Vocations Sunday: Anyone considering Priesthood is warmly invited to contact Fr Dominic Howarth, Diocesan Vocations Director.. For young men and women aged 18 – 30 and wanting a place to reflect, pray and chat about vocation, you are very welcome to the new Brentwood Vocations Discernment Group. Meeting monthly, an evening together includes a meal, a talk by a Priest or Religious sharing their vocational journey, a time of quiet prayer and a chance to ask questions both in a group and one to one. Migrant's Mass: To be held at Westminster Cathedral on Mon 7th May, 10.30am (for 11am). East London Three Faiths' Forum Archbishop Kevin McDonald will be giving a talk at the South Woodford Mosque, Mulberry Way, E18 1ED entitled "Catholics and Other Faiths" on Thursday 31 May at 8pm. All are welcome to attend. There is no charge.
The Big Jubilee Lunch on 3rd June will be a part of the main programme of events over the central weekend of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. A record number of people are expected to take part across the UK. Why not be one of them! All are welcome to come from 1pm; bring a picnic and enjoy our bar and the cream teas as we keep the children entertained in the grounds of Walsingham House. The diocesan retreat centre on Canvey Island. From 5pm we will enjoy live music and a Hog Roast until 10pm. Feel free to pop in at anytime or bring the family for the whole day. The Irish Elderly Advice Network continues to provide an East London Pensioners Advice Service every Thursday from 10am- 1pm. Join Team CAFOD and help us celebrate 50 years of helping others . We are aiming for 50 people from across the diocese to take part in the 120ft abseil down Harlow Water Tower on Sunday 6th May and also for 50 riders to take part in the Lee Valley Bike Ride (10 mile family ride or longer 19 mile ride) on Saturday 27th May.
